General Email Problems
1. Problem:
I am using a
Microsoft E-mailing program and some of my clients cannot open
their attached remittance advices. These clients are not using a
Microsoft emailing program.
Solution:
Microsoft
allows for rich-text e-mails, and sends a WINMAIL.DAT file with rich
text e-mails so that the recipient can receive the formatting
information.
If you are
sending to another Microsoft user they will not see the attached
WINMAIL.DAT file and they will receive the e-mail without issues.
However non-Microsoft users will see the WINMAIL.DAT file as an
attachment and will not be able to open it.
The action
most likely to solve the problem is as follows.
In MS Outlook
and Outlook Express:
On the Tools
menu, click Options, and then click the Mail Format (or "Send") tab.
Under the Send
tab is the message format list, select Plain Text or HTML(NOT Rich
Text Format), and then click OK.
Finally,
ensure that your end users have the latest version of Adobe Reader
and they can open Rich Text Format attachments.
If these
measures do not work then you will need to consult your IT Support
and have them check off each of the items in Microsoft Knowledge
Base Article 138053, and possibly have them liaise with the IT
Support of the organisation you are attempting to send e-mails to.
Please note that there are several reasons for why certain
organisations may not receive e-mails from you, including your
e-mail client settings, your e-mail server settings, their e-mail
server settings and their e-mail client settings. Please
contact your ACCPAC Solution Provider or IT Department to resolve
any emailing issues.
We have put
together a program that will assist your Solution Provider or IT Support
to resolve email issues. It allows
them to work with e-mail configuration settings and send test
e-mails. To download it, please click here
2. Problem:
Although I
have Adobe reader installed, EFT Services sends the remittance
advices as .rtf files.
Solution:
E-mailing PDF
files was only introduced in ACCPAC version 5.1, all prior versions
of ACCPAC will e-mail using rtf.
We have
provided users with two e-mailing options in EFT Services 51A*. You
can use Microsoft MAPI or SMTP. If you use SMTP you may be able to
send PDF files with ACCPAC version 5.0.
* Note that
EFT Services 51A is compatible with ACCPAC 5.1 & 5.0.
To use it with ACCPAC version 5.0 all you need to do is install the
Report Pack from our downloads page.
